Throughout the time of the pandemic and lock down, I invited friends and colleagues to share photos of their window views while sheltering in place. I asked interested participants to frame their photographs to include things like plants or curtains as a way to personalize each perspective as an expression of the environment surrounding each subject’s field of vision. I then used my time isolated in my home/studio to interpret these photos through a unique process of pulp painting with watermarked handmade paper. The results are a colorful blend of naively painted works in paper accompanied by community members’ stories and poems about managing through COVID.
