I use paper to try out colour palettes and compositions as a warm up before moving on to a canvas, these often turn into little works of art in themselves. I also love the different quality that results from working on paper. An experimentation in achieving different looking textures in this one and I love the stark contrast of the dark indigo with the paler dusty pink. This brought to mind the gravel pit because of the textured brown. We have often gathered with friends at the 'gravel pit' for winter barbeques (strange I know) sometimes you get a little depression that still has some water in it.
