Abstract Grape Harvest mixed media painting on metallic canvas by Julia Ross. The abstract painting represents a focused view of the grapevine with vineyard and sunset in background, during the harvesting of wine grapes - one of the most crucial steps in the process of making wine. The time of year grapes bud depends on weather conditions affecting the ripeness of the grape as measured by sugar, acid and tannin levels with winemakers basing their decision to pick based on the style of wine they wish to produce. This painting was inspired by a late Fall harvest. Grapevine in the distance, these grapes were painted with a mixture of oil pigments on canvas to include hues of deep blues, green purple and sunset orange with accents of silver.
