HEAR MY HEART SPEAK was inspired by one of my daughters. The day of her wedding, I was looking at the photographer take different pics, when I had a vision of the perfect one! At the risk of being seen as the overbearing mother of the bride, I dared ask for one special pose. I ask my daughter to sit, raise her dress to her knees, and position her feet a little askew with her elbows resting on her knee. Turns out that everyone loved the pose, including the photographer. I then used the picture to inspire on of my favorite painting and sculpture. The original painting sold almost immediately and giclee’s were printed and still to this day the most sold reproduction. Same story with the bronze sculpture, it is always a favorite of any exhibition. The emotion that both sculpture and painting projects is powerful and soft. I think the love of a mother for her daughter can be felt. As in all my figurative work, the faceless figure, is not even noticed at first and does not impede the message. It is displayed at Luis Sottil Galeria de Arte at 400 Beach Dr Ne, Suite 150, St. Petersburg, Fl. 33701.
