ACCEPTANCE:
The sculpture was created to honour how far we have come in terms of ACCEPTANCE and
liberation for gay men. Today, there is more freedom to express oneself and live openly as a
gay man. However, the sculpture also acknowledges that there are still challenges and
obstacles that need to be overcome, which is represented with the rope wrapped around the
feet.
The snake represents the complex relationship between Christianity and homosexuality. The
sculpture invites us to reflect on this relationship and to consider how we can continue to work
towards greater ACCEPTANCE and understanding.
