Laura Barr was born in New York City, NY to parents of Russian descent. Laura was adopted at the age of 10 and relocated to Hutchinson, KS where she remained until her death in 2008. Laura was heavily involved in the beginning stages of the Hutchinson Arts Council and served on its board of directors for many years. Her work, described as "acrylic collage" highlights elements of the world deemed too mundane for depiction. Laura's work has won many awards in both Kansas and interstate art circles.
