This is a quick review our current understanding of an oddity in animal development: the migration of one of a flatfish’s eyes to the other side of its head during development. The idea I hoped to convey is that when we take a real look at features of living creatures that seem illogical at first, that they often turn out to be quite elegant examples of some principle of evolutionary theory. I gave it a little branding at the end and am thinking about more ideas to make this a series.
