"Breakthrough..." began in my usual fashion--trying to capture the beauty and detail of a botanical for others to enjoy, and investigate for themselves; but when it was almost completed, I transformed it into a conceptual artwork by adding goldleaf pen markings, creating a pathway through the "landscape" of the allium bud hills and valleys in an attempt to communicate the idea of mentally and emotionally finding a way through what seemed like unsurmountable challenges at the time.
