Large regions of valuable farmland in countries like Angola have been rendered unusable due to dangerous, unmarked minefields. While the giant pouched rat, Cricetomys ansorgei, was previously considered a common pest in the area, it was found to be incredibly intelligent and easily trained, making the species a perfect, if unlikely, tool for uncovering these dangerous relics.
