This piece needed to tell a story with regards to the effects of itching. With Onchocerciasis, there is intense itching from the parasitic microfilariae that live within the skin layers, that severely inhibits a persons daily life, impacting sleeping, breastfeeding, work. The illustration needed to show a person using a stick to itch, causing scratches and skin damage.
