“NEW WAVE” SIGNED ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PAINTING BY THE AMERICAN PAINTER AND PRINTMAKER PAUL JAMES GUNN (1922-2001)

This large mid-century modern coastal seascape painting, featuring a crashing wave on a rocky shore, is titled “New Wave”. The painting is by the Oregon artist Paul Gunn, known in the Pacific Northwest for his modernist abstract paintings and prints which have been shown in galleries, juried shows and in museum exhibitions. His artwork is held in museum collections and important private collections. This painting is an excellent example of the artist’s early work.

The medium is acrylic on wood panel measuring 20 x 38 1/2 inches. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner: Paul Gunn. Also titled and signed by the artist on the reverse: MEW WAVE acrylic PAUL GUNN.

The Portland Art Museum Rental Sale Gallery “Rental Contract” pouch is attached to the back of the painting which documents the painting description, the Code number PG-27, and the original Purchase Price of $750.00. The painting comes in the original simple slat wood molding frame. The frame measures 20 1/2 x 39 inches.
