“COUVERTURE DU CATALOGUE”, 1956 ORIGINAL STONE SIGNED COLOR LITHOGRAPH BY SPANISH ARTIST AND PRINTMAKER PABLO PICASSO (1881 - 1973)
The composition of this lithograph, printed in four colors, was executed on transparent transfer paper and transferred to stone. The lithograph bears Picasso’s stone signed signature in the image lower left: Picasso. The title of this lithograph is: “Couverture du Catalogue” (“Cover for a Catalogue”). Created by Picasso in 1956 for the front and back cover for the exhibition catalogue brochure on the occasion of the exposition “Dessins d’un demi-siecle” (“Half a century drawings”) at the Berggruen and Cie Gallery in Paris. Edition of 1,000 copies.
This lithograph has been removed from the gallery catalogue and laid flat. There are two vertical crease lines down the middle (the catalogue spine folds). The printed image size measures 8 1/2 x 9 1/8 inches (21.6 x 23.2 cm), printed on cream wove paper, the full sheet measures 8 5/8 x 9 3/4 inches (22 x 24.7 cm). The lithograph comes unframed.
