When George Floyd was killed on 25 May 2020 by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, I was moved to create art that reflected my stormy emotions. I discovered that St Michael was the patron saint of police officers and that got me thinking… What would Michael be feeling about what happened? And I guessed he’d be weeping. And so I began a painting journey exploring this idea. This painting is the first in the series.
