Returned To Owner
This installation is derived from the original 36 images printed on archival paper mounted to cradled panels
This work is comprised of digital montages of images drawn from video stills from the “Substance of Venom” video (projected onto the south wall of the gallery.) The montages have been adhered to panels and painted with beeswax. Larger patterns that traverse the entirety of the modular work allude to flight patterns of honeybees (and their dances), the molecular structure of melittin, the substance of venom in a honeybee sting and the undulating organic forms of their hives found in nature. The title refers to a line from ACT II of the play, “Man and Superman” (1903) poem by Bernard Shaw, “Go to the bee, thou poet: consider her ways and be wise.”
I wish to thank Iowa artist, Gillian Brown, for her assistance with this work.
