This piece explores colour, texture, and the passage of time. It’s been with me for years, occasionally resurfacing as I add another layer, or, repaint it entirely, then tuck it away again. Originally begun for a Beautiful Bizarre show three years ago, it wasn’t ready in time. Now, she returns for another Beautiful Bizarre exhibition, bearing the weight of history and enough paint to sink a ship. What you see on the surface is just the latest chapter, resting atop many hidden iterations beneath.
