I'm using Nicker poster color. It's a Japanese brand, and the same paint that is used in all the backgrounds by Studio Ghibli. It behaves like gouache, but I believe the pigments are a bit larger, so it has more coverage when diluted. I like to use it a bit like watercolor, a bit like gouache.
