It is fascinating to explore in paint the complexity of growth and the juxtaposition of autumn life and decay. Overgrown greenbrier and blackberries can form a dense net of vines, and I was intrigued with the idea of keeping the plant life somewhat recognizable as such, while pursuing a more abstract view of the word 'tangle'. I was happy with the way the result brings to life all the action of the autumn breezes moving the vines, and the idea of growth overall.
