Northern Virginia based collage artist, Eleftheria Easley, unlocks the beauty and potential of collected items and invites the viewer to share a connection.
Message“Garden of Life” was created in 2018 after studiously collecting both inspiration and materials for many years. At the time, extensive international travel was at the forefront of my life and creative possibilities were marinating in the background. When my family and I moved from the US to Europe, my exposure to art and design was abundant and nourishing for my spirit. This continued as we moved from Europe to Asia next, and I was drawn to the prominence of the arts in daily life. The piece came together in S. Korea, where it felt incredibly rewarding to create again after a long pause. The work is a deeply personal one, wherein each individual flower tells its own story based upon the materials used to fashion it and where or who they came from. Overall, it communicates the combined tales of a long journey. It is never too late to return to doing what we love and this collage honors two decades worth of experiences, memories, and relationships.
