This work is an early, powerful exploration of the Old Growth forests, a foundational piece that led to the development of the artist's signature LuminaFilm process. The composition features a double-spire snag, illuminated against the dense, lush canopy of the forest, evoking the image of joined spirits or an oracle of the wood.

The use of vellum as the substrate provides a distinct, soft luminescence to the image, which is dramatically enhanced by the hand-gilding with 24K gold leaf. The gold emphasizes the central verticality and spiritual energy of the snag, transforming the photographic scene into an iconic, richly textured meditation on local mysticism and the enduring strength of the natural world.
