ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING
Oil, oil paint stick, willow charcoal on gallery wrap canvas. edges painted neutral gray. Wired to hang unframed.
A visceral painting, emotion is palpable in Heartland. Inspired by the Piet Oudolf meadow at the Delaware Botanic Gardens, this painting explores our relationship with earth. My painting process is much like gardening, as I dig and carve colors and textures in the paint with palette knives. Scraping and removing paint, then adding layers of translucent glaze, drawing with twigs of willow charcoal into wet impasto paint.
