Inspired by my Harlem Series, created during my residency on Governors Island, this is a depiction of a beautiful black woman inspired by the beauty and fashion of Harlem. She's my version of the 90's Rap Song "Around the Way Girl," by LL Cool J. The Harlem series was created to pay homage to celebrating 100 Years of the Harlem Renaissance. Incorporating vintage images while creating modern images of African Americans who migrated to Harlem from other parts of the world.
