Commissioned to enhance the Arboretum Shopping Center's outdoor public park area facing the Renaissance Hotel, this mural depicting visitors watching (and tagging with spray paints) the nightly emergence of thousands of Mexican Freetail Bats that live beneath Austin's Congress Avenue Bridge. Mural incorporates custom construction trusses holding hi-power ultraviolet LED floodlights to illuminate and cause the bats to glow in the evening hours after sunset. A stand alone selfie mural on aluminum sheeting hides an unsightly air conditioning unit while providing social marketing for the center and social selfie opportunities for visitors.
