GOLDEN HOUR is a narrative of contrasts. My intent was to convey both the tenderness and strength of this hardworking cowgirl. Although dressed in a rough leather duster and practical clothing she chooses a soft feminine silk scarf. Her hat is pulled low like she means real business yet her expression reveals a gentleness that draws us to her. She is a woman of intention and purpose. We see her physical strength as she effortlessly carries her heavy saddle, as well as her inner strength as she looks upon the world with unyielding determination and confidence, ready for any challenge. Paring a simplified background with the highly detailed figure places our focus on the woman creating a sense of both atmosphere and emotion.
