The elegant scissor-tailed flycatcher is one of the most beautiful birds seen on the southern great plains, prairies, and open fields. Often the birds perch on fence posts and wires displaying their long, deeply forked, graceful tail feathers. As an artist, I enjoy painting this ideal subject with colors of pale grey and accents of salmon.
