During an early morning hike in the back country I came across this large moose and for a while I watched and photographed him from the safety of a ridge. However, Being a "crazy wildlife artist" I had the brilliant idea of coming down the ridge to try and get a photo of him at eye level. Of course I did not think about the thicket of brush being over 9' high. I must have made quite the commotion going through the brush because as I emerged this powerful moose was standing a mere few feet before me!

In the early morning dappled light of the deep brush, I was startled to suddenly encounter a  large bull moose.  Light reflecting on his massive antlers was the first sign of this impressive animal.
