"African Thunder"  was inspired by an event while on safari in the Ngorongoro  Conservation Area.  I watched a Black Rhino cross the path of a Grey Crowned Crane and admired  the contrast between  the rhino's rough hide  and the delicate feathered beauty of the crane.  The Grey Crowned Crane is considered  a lucky sign in native traditions as the bird that brings the rains.
