Spotting a pair of magnificent lions in the wild is a thrilling experience. We watched a pride of lions relaxing among  the brush and rock outcroppings the locals refer to as Kopies.  From the high, secure vantage point of the kopies, the lions  have a perfect view of the plains, watching for game and intruders. Through the subtle use of light and color in "African Splendor" I wanted to evoke a sense of majesty and tranquility as the lions survey their vast domain beneath the setting sun.
