Montana Trilogy: A Liturgy to the Land
By Connie Herberg
Montana, your skies are without bound and your wilderness vast.
I open my arms wide to embrace your magnificence
I worship at the altar of your grandeur
My heart is filled with your great beauty.
A river at sunset becomes a golden serpent
Winding midst dusty green sage and sky blue lupine.
Fed by melting snow from sapphire mountains,
On a journey through peaceful valleys.
As the fire of day sinks low, the land is hushed.
Your skies fill with breathtaking glory,
Gossamer clouds dance the sunset’s radiance across the horizon
Readying the land for sleep.
