Born in Denver, Colorado, Michael studied fine art and design at Pratt Institute in New York. Much of his practice focuses around found objects and materials, using collage and assemblage throughout his work. While studio painting, murals, public art and drawing are at the center of his discovery, he has also taught and lectured. He is widely exhibited and collected both locally and around the world. In September 2021 Michael took the position as executive director of PlatteForum, an arts nonprofit that brings together high school youth with professional artists to realize unique opportunities for quality community engagement through arts education and leadership.
