“Truly a landmark of Cattlewash Beach, this large rock has been and
continues to be associated with this area. Over the years, persons on
holiday in the area often used Round Rock as a meeting point, picnic
spot or as a destination of a walk. Young folk played cricket nearby and
friendships were made. The truly adventurous among them took the challenge and would climb to the top of the rock.
I was one of those youngsters many years ago, though I never climbed to
the top. However, my son climbed it recently and took photos. This work
is based on one of those photos including the bench which was more
recently installed.” - Michael McChlery
