Bought by Richard Brown Baker in the early 80's. Richard came to 8 thomas street to see my work.
He loved this piece and we took it on the subway to his upper east side apt. It was the first time I had been
into his little private museum. It is overwhelming and extraordinary, works by the greatest most established artists of our day.
He truly was one of the greatest most astute collectors of post WW2 contemporary American Art.
I brought the piece into the living room and he said ,put the piece here as he pointed to the coffee table
in front of the couch. It was already filled so he moved a small Alexander Calder stable sculpture and I put my
"Bannered Castle" in its place.
I was thrilled, he said he paid more for my sculpture then he did for that Calder!!! I can't remember right now how much but I think it was $1,100 or $1,500.
Then Richard said oh we've got to go to the Knoedler Gallery for an opening of an Alexander Calder exhibition!
When we arrived everyone was oooing and ahhhing Richard Brown Baker, and he was introducing me as
a sculptor with a new work in his collection!
