In late January, 2024, Thornton Arts and Culture Division installed a new public art sculpture in the city’s newest park, Sky Park, at 950 W 88th Ave., Thornton, CO.
The sculpture, titled “Periodic Reflection,” was created by Pneuhaus Studio. It is an elevated 5-foot by 6-foot cube structure made of interlaced pieces of mirror-finished aluminum. The shiny surfaces invite viewers to engage with and move around the art, exploring the different views and colors that are reflected. The piece is an exploration of physics that mixes aspects of art, engineering, geometry, and new technology.
The artists’ multidisciplinary approach to public art hopes to inspire students attending the nearby STEM Launch School, many of whom helped provide much of the creative direction to the city when designing Sky Park.
