After Hurricane Katrina, many schools struggled to reopen due to financial difficulties, leading to an increase in Charter Schools taking over the institutions that once embodied the spirit of New Orleans. Events like Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, French Quarter Fest, and local football games, along with the vibrant bands and sports teams, infused our city with unique energy and cultural richness. This piece is dedicated to the schools that contributed to our city's grandeur. The silhouette of a young student reflects our shared experiences in those schools and symbolizes our commitment to preserving and continuing the spirit of New Orleans for generations to come.
