When I met this kid I could see the challenges he endured simply from looking in his eyes. Yet , he had a particular glow that gave one hope for the future of our youth. To make it past 18 seems to be a blessing while living in a system is designed for black youth to fail. When does the cycle end? There's more money being invested in surveillance cameras than there are in strengthening community resources, youth centers, affordable housing and education. Leaving some black youth forced to make decisions that can effect them for the rest of their lives. Every child no matter their ethnicity deserves the opportunity to shine. This image reminds me of solutions that can help the youth shine.
