Sherry Tipton began carving stone in 2004 at Ghost Ranch in northern New Mexico and soon began restructuring her life to embrace stone sculpture full time. In 2009, she began exhibiting her stone sculpture in shows and galleries in Colorado, New Mexico, and New York City. She also received her first commission at this time. In 2010, Tipton began traveling to international stone carving symposia, working in Turkey and Greece. Since moving to New Orleans in 2018, she has established a studio and begun doing restoration work on important monuments in the historic cemeteries there.
