
Scott Benefield has been involved in the field of studio glass for more than 25 years as a glassblower, writer. and workshop leader. He studied at The College of William and Mary, Louisiana State University, holds a master’s degree in glass from Ohio State University, and studied glass design in Sweden with Ann Wolff. Benefield has worked at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Pilchuck Glass School, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.
Benefield was an original founder of the New Orleans School of GlassWorks and worked there as general studio manager and instructor in glassblowing. His work is in the collections of the Museum of American Glass in Millville, New Jersey; North Lands Creative Glass in Lybster, Scotland; the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington; and the Sir Elton John Collection in London, England. He served on the board of the Glass Art Society in 1995, and was president from 2000 to 2001. In 2011 he received the Lifetime Membership Award by the Glass Art Society.
