Philippine Eagle 2

Also known as the monkey-eating eagle for it’s first documented diet, the Philippine Eagle is extremely rare with fewer than 500 in the world. Deforestation as part of increased farming is hastening their decline. It has the largest wing-span and wing surface of all eagles. The Philippines have declared it their national bird and killing one is punishable by heavy fines and prison time. It is probably too late. Reference photo by Klaus Nigge.
