Portrait of Dr. Philip F. Harvey (1805-83), a surgeon in the Civil War and well-respected citizen of Portland, Oregon. The portrait was painted by his son, George Harvey (1835-1922), a well-known Iowa artist who trained with his uncle, George Harvey (1806-76) and Thomas Hicks.
