Portfolio containing a collection of 18th century documents, largely receipts and promissory notes written to Peter Smith (1768-1837), general store owner at Fort Schuyler, Utica, New York. Smith was a fur trapper and formed a close relationship with Chief Skenandoa of the Oneida people. Peter Smith's son was the famous abolitionist, Gerrit Smith.
