Cabinet card depicting Perry & Smith Clothiers, Rome, New York. The photograph was given to John Buckley (1842-1900), dry goods merchant and 1879 mayor of Utica. Buckley's store was the scene of the "Great Calico Riot" in 1871. It is possible that Buckley was a fabric supplier to the Rome clothiers in the photo.
