One-of-a-kind photo book made as a keepsake by Melvin Gilbert Dodge for his two children, Alice Cynthia Dodge and Allen Edward Dodge. Melvin was the librarian at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, then moved west in 1901 to become assistant librarian at Stanford University. Photography was a hobby for Melvin, and this photo book serves as a testament to the Dodge home prior to the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The Dodge family moved back east in 1916. Another daughter had been born in 1912.
