Lap desk given to Harriet Bradford Phinney (1825-1914) by her sister-in-law, Caroline "Cally" Martha Cooper Phinney (1815-1892) of Cooperstown, New York.

Caroline Cooper was the daughter of author James Fenimore Cooper. Harriet Phinney was the granddaughter of printer Elihu Phinney.
