Depicts Oliver R. McNary (1823-95) and Eleanor R. Grove McNary (1820-1910). McNary first mustered into Company E of the 12th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He later mustered into the 103rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, where he rose through the ranks from 1st Lieutenant, Quartermaster, Captain, and Major. He was shot four times and also wounded with a saber. He was a prisoner of war, with escapes. McNary was also acting superintendent of Negro affairs during the Battle of Plymouth. After the war, Oliver McNary served as historian of the "Prisoners of War Association."
