Resurface investigates the visually organic qualities that result from the treatment of steel as it is cut and welded. The mig welder marks leave a unique texture that is similar to a natural growth form. The jagged edges from cutting create delicate nooks and crannies, almost like a live edge board. The intention in this piece was to create something that feels organic, natural, and emotive from a material that is stiff, cold, and primarily used for industrial purposes.
