As we move into the second month of 2023, leaving behind the old year as well as the first month of the new year, we continue with the mammoth task of setting up a new gallery and a new studio in Kirriemuir, Angus. We have achieved a great deal in January and there is still plenty of hard work ahead in February and beyond. We've now had our Artists Open Days for our regular exhibitors and some new Artist enquiries. There will be one final Artist Open Day towards the end of February for the local Kirriemuirian artists to come and see our new space. In the meantime our task of setting up and preparing for the first exhibition in the Kirriemuir gallery continues.
Our first exhibition of 2023 coincides with the opening of our new Gallery in Kirriemuir. We have invited some our our regular exhibiting artists and some new ones too to present some of their artwork in our Opening Exhibition: Places, Spaces and Everything In-Between. The theme for this exhibition is wide enough to incorporate most creative visions and renditions of what the artist has been inspired by. The moving into our new 'Space' has certainly sparked some exploratory works by our Resident Artist, Annie McLean. The unpacking of boxes always seem to reveal hidden gems in paints and materials that have been put to one side and forgotten about. Our new 'Place' is truly inspirational, not just the 'around the town' scenes in the 'Wee Red Toon' as Kirriemuir is fondly referred to, but also in the beautiful county of Angus it lies within. Kirriemuir is often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Glens' being only a few miles away from Glen Clova, Glen Prosen and Glen Isla. As for the 'In-Between, well that is anyone's guess what will inspire the artist to create. Viewing the exhibition online gives a flavour of the talent exhibiting in this exhibition but to really appreciate the artwork a gallery visit is a must. Out of hours 'Private Viewings' can be arranged by a simple telephone call.
