Painted on location at Blairs Ferry, this 30x30 cm oil on canvas aims to capture the quiet harmony between the man-made and natural worlds. The cottage, nestled against the hillside, feels both secluded and integral to the landscape, while the small boat resting at the water’s edge adds a subtle narrative of human presence. I have used oils on canvas to bring a richness to the scene, evoking the stillness and tranquillity of the moment.

Blairs Ferry, once a key crossing point in Scotland’s maritime history, provided a backdrop steeped in quiet history, now softened by the passage of time. This work was painted during a break from a commissioned project in nearby Tighnabruaich. I have attempted to capture the understated beauty of the location by using a restrained palette and balanced composition to convey a scene both peaceful and contemplative.
