This painting is based on a view from Elgol beach on the isle of Skye looking over towards the Black Cullins. It shows a passing rain storm over the Cullins and different colours and light that this late summer storm have created. Where I am viewing this scene from Elgol beach still sparkles and glistens. I used oil paint on the Cullins painted with brush them blended with a sponge to create that swirling cloud shape. On the bottom of the painting I used sand mixed with oil paint to create the texture of the sand and laid copper and gold foil over the top and then rubbed it off creating the glistening sand, and added in hints of colour for the summer wild flowers. My work is always about a moment of time, the drama in that moment. This painting is an unfolding drama over the impressive Cullins range and the beautiful light and colour this has created .
