The land has always fascinated me, moments in time for no reason stick in my memory. I often find that these moments resurface when wondering what next to paint and it is then that these smaller paintings emerge. This one was painted entirely from my imagination and memories of time spent in the Outer Hebrides. I have used collage and moulding paste to create texture. It could also quite easily represent a volcanic landscape, hence the title.
