Platter, 18 x 14 inches. Brown transfer. Unknown maker. This pattern features a scroll cartouche depicting a heron in flight heading towards a pond with water lilies and cattails. The scroll is pierced by a thorny branch with blossoms. One bird has a ring in its mouth which is hanging from the thorny branch. Another bird flies above. This motif is repeated in mirror image on the opposite side of the platter.
Stylized butterflies, a pair of perched songbirds, and sprigs of flowers and foliage fill the remaining empty space.
