This 11.5 inch x 15.5 inch abstract nude was painted by Maurice Soulet in 1982. In a landscape orientation, the abstracted nude figure lays horizontally within the composition. The figure's head is cut off by the top right edge of the work, resulting in only her nose and mouth being visible. The figure's blonde hair hides behind her head and neck. The body of the figure is rendered in a simple and loose manner; one arm is bent with the hand positioned over her presumed stomach, and the other arm seems to sort of cradle the side of her body with the hand placed against her thigh. The dimensions of the figure's body are defined by colorful shading; the bent arm and hand upon her stomach are shaded with red and orange, and the arm that cradles the side of her body is shaded with a vivid and thick application of yellow pastel. Her breasts are clearly defined, amplified by two black solid lines that define the curve of her breasts and then shaded with the same vivid yellow pastel that shaded her arm. Her stomach is rendered as a yellow-shaded circle with a yellow triangular shape just below it, defining the separation of her legs which also have a thick yellow line of shading. The background is ambiguous, meaning we are not certain if she is seated upon something or not, but it is filled with an array of different colors in a variety of organic shapes, some blue, grey, orange and red.
The piece is bordered by a gold frame.
The artist is Maurice Soulet.
